Colorado’s closest winter resort destinations, Winter Park Resort and Copper Mountain are open for the ski season with Thanksgiving festivities, early season packages and kids/family programs. AT WINTER PARK RESORT Colorado’s Oldest Resort is open as of November 14. Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend Activities: Thanksgiving weekend gives guests time to relax with friends and family while satisfying that early season ski bug. A traditional turkey dinner is served at the mountain top Lodge at Sunspot or the Five Mountain Tavern in the Vintage Hotel. Guests may later demo the latest equipment at the Ski and Tele Demo Fests. Adrenaline seekers can take to the slopes with nighttime snow biking offered on Thanksgiving night or relax on the decks of the Derailer Bar while enjoying their favorite beverage. Early Season Warm Up and Slopeside Special Packages: Valid November 14 - December 14, this package includes three nights of lodging, three days of lift tickets, three half-day lessons and three days of rental equipment for starting at $525 per person. Rate is based on four people in a two-bedroom condo in Winter Park Resort's recently renovated Zephyr Mountain Lodge. Restrictions apply, based on availability. FEB 6-8 - Bob’s Ski & Ride School Three Day Mogul Camp Bob Barnes, Winter Park Resort’s Ski & Ride School Director, offers his expertise in three full days of intense bump fun. Barnes and his hand-picked pros are dedicated to helping guests reach a higher level of mogul skiing. Camp includes orientation, six hours per day of bump coaching, indoor sessions with equipment and stance analysis, new equipment demos and personal video analysis. AT COPPER : New for this season, Tuesday Nights - Kids in the Kitchen at Pizza Carlo Offered on Tuesday nights, Pizza Carlo will host families and let the kids do the cooking. Kids will have the opportunity to sit at the pizza bar and create the pizza of their dreams. Copper’s chefs will provide the dough and the “junior chefs” will add the toppings of their choice to invent their family’s pizza. Space is limited, reservations strongly suggested. March 2-3 - Colorado Special Olympics Winter Games The Winter Games mark the culmination of the winter sports season for the 550 athletes who annually participate in alpine skiing, cross country skiing, figure skating, snowshoeing and snowboarding. This season marks the 20th consecutive year Copper Mountain will host the event. Copper is proud to be the official winter training site for all Colorado-based winter Special Olympics athletes as well as the official host resort for the Winter Games through 2010. Evenings - Dinner Sleigh Rides Copper’s guests are invited to experience the magic of a horse drawn sleigh ride through the snow covered woods.
