Winter Park, CO - Winter Park Resort, and the Winter Park - Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce, will hold a grand birthday celebration for its most infamous mountain, Mary Jane, January 26-27, 2008. Named in honor of a late-1800s lady of the evening, Mary Jane is most known for her steeps, deeps and VW-size moguls - epitomizing what winter in Winter Park, Colorado is all about.

The celebration starts on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7p.m. with the 25th Annual Chef’s Cup Dinner and Dance. This Silver Anniversary event features food from the finest chefs and restaurants in Grand County. Guests enjoy a silent auction, cocktails and sampling of area chefs’ best dishes as they compete for your approval for the People’s Choice award. Advance tickets are $40 per person or $50 at the door and include complimentary beer and wine along with unlimited sampling. Chef’s Cup proceeds support the Winter Park Competition Center.

On Saturday and Sunday, the birthday party continues on the slopes of Mary Jane with free bump tips, a snow sculpture contest, live music, a Mary Jane look-a-like contest, après ski birthday cake, and Mary Jane Ale specials at the Club Car restaurant.

Towards the evening, the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce takes over offering even more family friendly activities. This year, the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce introduces SnowZone in Hideaway Park. SnowZone features family-friendly fun, including an amazing fireworks display, free sledding hill, human bowling, pick-up broomball games and a beginner snow-skate park, all starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26. Also new this year, the “Mary Jane on Parade” invites local businesses to make an artistic interpretation of the original Mary Jane. The parade and fireworks start at 6 p.m.; all events in the town of Winter Park are free.
